President Barak Obama greeted His Holiness Baselius Marthoma Paulos II on his 70th  Birthday

14088438_1146663888741505_1133528502962530320_nToday His Holiness Baselios Marthoma Paulos II, the Catholicos of the East and Malankara Metropolitan, the Supreme head of Malankara Orthodox Church celebrating his 70th Birthday. At Present His Holiness is on Apostolic visit to united states of America.  On Saturday, August 27th His Holiness Moran Mar Baselios Marthoma Paulos II celebrated Divine Liturgy at Saint Gregorios Orthodox Church of Floral Park, New York.

After the Divine Liturgy, the Diocese celebrated the 70th Birthday of His Holiness, the birthday of our Diocesan Metropolitan, His Grace Zachariah Mar Nicholovos, and the birthday of Reverend Father Jiss Johnson, Secretary to His Holiness. H.G. Dr Yuhanon Mar Chrisostomos, Metropolitan of Niranam Diocese was also present. Afterwards the Catholicate Day celebration for parishes of New York, Connecticut, Massachusetts, and Canada was also observed. Rev. Fr. Alexander Kurien, a Senior Policy Staff of the current President Obama Administration  presented His Holiness the birthday wishes from the Office of the President. “Dear Holiness Moran Mar Baselius Marthoma Paulos IIthe supreme head of the Indian Orthodox Church: Michelle and I send our warmest wishes for your 70th birthday.  As you celebrate your birthday with your spiritual children in the United States of America, please know that I am grateful for inspiring your church for making a spiritual transformation in our communities to defend and respect human rights.  I am inspired by your solemn devotion to caring for the oppressed and cultivating socio economic equality amongst women and girls.  Your concern for improving the world inspires me with great hope for the future.  I hope your birthday is filled with love and laughter, and I wish you all the best for good health and happiness in the year ahead.  I wish you long life and success.”

In his reply, His Holiness appreciated the kindness of the President of the United States for the heartfelt welcome and best wishes, and the support for our churches across the United States.
